Burger Books was founded by Groveport Madison Local Schools Board of Education Vice President, LaToya Dowdell-Burger. Having personally faced challenges securing scholarships due to a GPA below 3.0 and graduating in the summer because of testing requirements, Mrs. Dowdell-Burger created this scholarship to support students who are hard workers but might not be the strongest test-takers, or who have faced life circumstances that have impacted their grades.
About the Scholarship
The Burger Books Scholarship is available to Groveport Madison High School seniors with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.9. We will award a minimum of four $250 book scholarships, with the potential for awards to increase in value or quantity based on our partnerships. To apply, students must complete the application and submit a 150-word written essay or a video essay on the prompt, "All the Places I Will Go."
Since its inception, Burger Books has given away over $4,000 in scholarship funds and more than $2,000 in Graduation Baskets to Groveport Madison High School students. All of these funds are made possible through donations from School Board salaries and generous community partners. We believe every student deserves support and are proud to provide opportunities for seniors to continue their educational journey.
